FGG Recognizes SKDC as Outstanding Local Sports Member Organisation

From October 24th through 28th, 2024, the Federation of Gay Games (FGG) celebrated their Annual General Assembly in Washington DC. As part of the celebration, the FGG recognized several local organizations and individuals for their support of the FGG’s work and the global LGBTQIA+ sports movement.

Stonewall Kickball DC (SKDC) was honored to receive the Local LGBTQ+ Sports Member Organisation Award for fostering inclusivity and creating a safe space for recreational sports for the LGBTQ+ in Washington DC. Commissioner Stu Wales attended the FGG to receive the award on behalf of the Chapter. In addressing the FGG with some brief remarks, Commissioner Wales took a moment to express his gratitude and also acknowledge the recent death of member Christopher Huskins, someone who lived the values of the Chapter and is but one of the many reasons why SKDC is recognized for the work that they do. Commissioner Wales was proud to accept the Award in Huskins’s name and memory.

Commissioner Brian Yamasaki of Stonewall Climbing DC (SCDC) was also at the Annual General Assembly and was honored with the Outstanding Contribution to Transgender and Non-Binary Sports Participation Award. The FGG recognized Commissioner Yamasaki for his founding of SCDC and advocating for equal play as a nonbinary athlete, significantly advancing inclusivity in sports.
