Why I joined Stonewall Kickball DC: I joined to make new friends in a new city. Being in the Navy, making new friends is repetitive and sometimes difficult. Since Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell was recently repealed and I didn’t have many LGBTQ friends, I wanted to join an organization that would allow me to find a core group of LGBTQ friends and encourage me to be my authentic self. From Choke on my Kick, to Oprah to S.Q.U.A.D., I can truly say, I consider the friends I have made through Stonewall Kickball DC, family.
