Grounding Principles

Stonewall Kickball of Washington DC (the “Chapter”) aims to provide an inclusive, low-cost, high fun social sports chapter that supports others in need.  Participation in the Chapter requires that activities are conducted in a manner that represents the best of the Chapter, while minimizing risk, ensuring member safety, and maintaining positive relationships with the community.

We value each player for who they are and what they bring to the Chapter’s community.  We are committed to creating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive kickball community because we seek to live the values that support our mission.

We strive for an organization that is diverse in all aspects of diversity.  This includes those aspects that are protected by federal and local laws, including but not limited to race, color, religion, gender, national origin, physical or mental ability, age, personal appearance, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, and political affiliation.  It also includes neurodiversity, behavior and ethodiversity, personality and thought-style, language, linguistics and accents, family and upbringing, ideologies, morals, social roles, education, socioeconomic status, life experiences, criminal background, work experiences, and skills.  The Chapter takes positive steps to ensure a diverse membership by engaging in broad and creative marketing, establishing committees to engage in thoughtful and impactful community building, and aligning and embedding our organizational values throughout the Chapter.

To promote equity, we promote justice, impartiality, and fairness within all Chapter procedures and processes and actively work to dismantle barriers to participation for underrepresented and underserved groups.

To attain an inclusive organization, we are dedicated to continually working to create and maintain an environment in which all members of the SKDC community feel welcomed, feel a sense of belonging, feel safe, feel comfortable that they can be themselves, and feel able to meaningfully participate in all aspects of the Chapter.

Consistent with these values and guiding principles, the Chapter has adopted these policies and codes of conduct.
